Muslim Young Professionals is run by volunteers in Ottawa. We keep as little about you as we can, we don't sell it or share it with advertisers, and we never show your email to anyone.
If you just browse
You don't need an account to look around. We don't use ads or tracking cookies. Your town style is saved in your own browser, not on our server.
We don't store IP addresses. To slow down spam we keep a scrambled code made from your IP address, and that code changes every day so it can't be used to follow you over time.
If you make an account
We store:
- your name and email address, plus any extra emails you add and confirm
- your password, saved in a scrambled form we can't read (unless you sign in with Google or Microsoft)
- a cookie that keeps you signed in
- what you choose to add to your profile: display name, how your character looks, Instagram or LinkedIn
- your votes and the topics or books you nominate
Your profile only appears in the town if you turn on "show in town". Some nomination answers, such as a phone number or your full name, are only seen by Muslim Young Professionals organisers.
Signing in with Google or Microsoft
If you choose one of these, they tell us your name, email address and profile photo. We don't get your password, contacts, files or anything else from your account.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare checks that forms are sent by a person, not a bot.
- Google Workspace sends our emails, such as sign-in codes, from [email protected].
Everything else stays on our own server in Canada, with a nightly backup.
Your choices
You can change or clear your profile at any time. To see what we hold about you, or to have your account and everything linked to it deleted, email [email protected]and we'll take care of it.
